Here is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! rolling into port. I originally identified this as the Arleigh Burke because they share the same hull number and that's how I'm identifying these ships. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! was kind enough to correct me with his better trained eye.

Your posts are making me want to read another book about navy seals, boats and submarines.

San Diego is only going to get busier as the US repositions its fleet to the Pacific .

I spent some time on the Arleigh Burke then some time on the Chung Hoon DDG-93. Let me tell you, time has not been kind to DDG-51.

That's an Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate, not an Arleigh Burke . The constant height superstructure aft of the pilot house is a giveaway.

Thank you! I thought it looked a little different. When I search for hull number 51, all I got were the Arleigh Burke and the USS Oak Hill, a Dock Landing Ship that it clearly wasn't.

Yup, I looked it up and made the correction. Thanks for setting me straight!

Oh ok. Thanks! I have never been to San Diego and know pretty much nothing about it.

This is the view of North Island NAS from Point Loma. I'll bet it drives the developers insane that they can't build hotels on such a prime piece of real estate.

Not too many OHP class FFGs left.
Also interesting is that while the "G" in FFG stands for "Guided Missile" these all had their missile launchers removed years ago when the missiles they fired were retired from service.

Yup. Lots of places like that in a similar predicament around the world though.
